Letter to the Alps

By Rebecca Sherman | @rebeccasherman_

snow-covered tracks lead me home to you

to a place out of reach, all our own,

hovering over a distant domain

you watch, a chilled warmth in the blue of your eyes

shimmers from the lakes, skating to the trees

they breathe to life at the touch of your glance,

their heartbeat in rhythm with yours

from your peaks to your valley

i’d chase your gaze,

i’d plant my roots in your soil,

blanketed in snow and dusted in daylight,

i’d stare across the blueness of you

at peace, at home,

staring for evermore.
