Abandoned Self

By Harper Wayne | @harperjacquelyn

My heart feels heavy with thick air sockets making hope of lightness despite the illusion. My chest is stuck in something beyond me. A bump in the road, invisible.

I always keep driving

I keep going away until the weight follows me, heavy enough to make movement unbearable.

Bumpy skin

A rash on my eyelids

Chest severed from my body

They drive me away

But always bring me back home,

To me.
